Title: VDR is not installed on MD
Post by: nite_man on August 04, 2008, 04:56:42 pm
Hi,

Today I faced with strange problem. I installed a fresh 0710 RC2 core/hybrid and choose VDR as PVR system. VDR worked fine on the core. But when I added a new MD, I couldn't find any VDR packages there. The box 'VDR' was ticked on the Software module page, the device VDR existed (I saw its log) but there were no any VDR packages on the MD. After rebuilding MD's image the VDR packages were installed.

I haven't seen such case in my practice. Any idea why it happened?

TIA.

Hi Michael,

Haveing more or less the same issus - only that VDR never installs on the MD.
I am trying out some things in VMware using a core and an MD with network boot. The core gets VDR installed, but the MD never gets VDR - even if it is selected on the software page.

Is it because I am behind a firewall with Proxy ? (meaning - the cora and MD can not connect directly to the Internet.

Can I install it on foot after setting the variables http/ftp_proxy ?

Greetings
Viking

I'm not sure about it. Finally I re-install all MDs and the second time VDR was there. Try to check install logs on your MD. Maybe you'll find something. But under vmware I had a lot of strange issues such died DCERouter and other devices. But I didn't pay a lot attention on it because I used vmware installation just for draft testing.
