Title: How to set up wii? Or any console for that matter?
Post by: Afkpuz on June 19, 2008, 06:56:08 am
Hello.  I'm running 710 and was hoping to set up my wii.  I have an rca input on the back of my haupauge pvr-500.  During setup, the wizard detected them and asked if I wanted to set up a camera using it.  So, I know that the ports should be good, at least in theory.  so, how can I set up a simple input that will allow me to play my wii?  How do I set up linuxmce so that it will take whatever data comes through those rca inputs and displays it?  Thanks

I wouldn't recommend running your wii through a capture device. There is a very noticable amount of latency involved (measured in seconds). What I would suggest, is hook your Wii up directly to another set of inputs on your tv. When added properly as a device, LMCE will create a new scenario for it, and control your TV inputs iautomatically if you select to use the wii.
Also, if you wanted to "stream" your stunning wii performance around the house for all to see, then get a splitter on the output of the wii - one side going to the new inputs on the TV, the other side going to a LMCE capture device. Then others around the house can see the game progressing, even though it will be a few seconds behind.

Ok, how would I setup the wii like you described?  I'll be getting a tv with a serial control port soon, so can you tell how to set up an input for the wii?
