Title: New install - man is this confusing
Post by: archived on December 25, 2005, 10:03:25 pm
Hey all,

I just installed plutohome 2.0.34 I chose hybrid. I guess this is the one I
need for a single machine and single room.

Installed just fine... added the ivtv firmware for my 2 PVR500's

Logged into the admin web gui.. and now I am completely lost.

For now I just want to add pvr via mythtv.

I want to just use my wireless keyboard to control this.

I plan to add other things later. i.e. Telephone, music. streaming, etc.

I do not have an IR remote. I do have an rs232 wireless remote that I got with my TurtleBeach audio thingy. No idea how to setup the remote for it.

I have my core/hybrid hooked to the tv {no monitor} via an Nvidia 5200.

I get a black screen and nothing else on it.

I just have no idea where to start.

For now I would just be happy to get mythtv working.

Any ideas?

This is correct.

It looks like you'll have to do a few things in Linux, not in Pluto. Some stuff (like nVidia TV OUT) are still out of my reach (I work on this subject, among others). Google might help though. It's probably a X setting for the nvidia proprietary drivers, similar to this thing for DVI output: http://xtronics.com/reference/nvidia_on_debian_linux.html. But you'll need either a monitor or a network connection to ssh in.

Once you get the Orbiter to display, you should have less problems with figuring stuff out.

You'll want to wait for version .35.  It has a fully, seamlessly integrated MythTV, which wasn't in .34
