Title: Problems playing Audio and Xine after applying Nvidia driver
Post by: archived on December 14, 2005, 07:20:16 am
This issue may have been around since .32 but I have just corrected a problem where a media director using an Nvidia 5700 graphics card was showing in black & white on a TV connected by the S-video connection. I have not been using this particular MD for this reason.

I am using the "geforce & TNT" selection from the MD screen and have added the following lines to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 screen section:-

Option "TVStandard" "PAL-I"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
Option "TVOutFormat" "SVIDEO"

The screen is now displayed correctly but neither Movies, Video, or Music work. All I seem to get is the light-blue screen before Xine is launched.

On this particular MD I no longer have a Xine.conf nor any files relating to  Alsa. It really does look like the Nvidia driver selection has removed these applications.

I have recreated the MD and Movies, Video, and music play but all is in black & white. When I select the Nvidia driver I cannot play any media.

How can I re-install the Pluto implementations of these packages after selecting the Nvidia driver?

Hmm... the nVidia video driver shouldn't be removing anything. I don't really know what's going on. Without those X config options, on a regular monitor, does it do the same?

At that stage there is nothing that I can do, either using an normal monitor or the TV.

To resolve the problem I recreated the MD using a normal monitor, applied the Nvidia driver, and then configured the MD to use the TV. All is now fine.
