Title: Support for Digital Radio Version 2
Post by: etxkesa on April 15, 2008, 03:48:41 am
I was wondering if there was general interest in integrating Digital Audio Broadcast (preferably V2) into MCE? Given that DAB is rapidly gaining a geographic spread across Europe, and is starting in Australia next January, I would see it as logical to manage all media services from the one platform. I would therefore like to be able to either watch DVB TV, listen/watch stored music/video, and listen to digital audio. It would of course be preferable in this context to be able to e.g. replace the DVB audio feed with a suitable DAB feed in some cases.

DAB seems to be dying here in the UK to be frank and I suspect this is even more true elsewhere in Europe where it has never even had the backing it had here from institutions like the BBC. Its just one of those formats that just never caught the imagination of the public... and with so many other ways to receive digital audio I can't see it gaining back any of this lost ground.

But... this is a FOSS project so you could make it happen if you wanted to ;-)
