Title: Re: Dreambox VLC HTTP Stream
Post by: totallymaxed on January 31, 2008, 03:46:48 pm
Hello everyone,
I'm using a Dreambox 7020 (linux based satellite decoder) to watch satellite tv. One of the feautures of DB is also streaming TV on the network via VLC streams. Is there a way to integrate that on LINUXMCE?

I've read that LMCE is using VLC to manage  room2room broadcasting. The DB can also be controlled via network just sending some https requests to some cgi-bin files on the DB.

The streaming ulr is something like that. http://192.168.0.12:31339/0,0101,0201,0294,0295,0081

Home someone can help.

Frank

The VLC streaming side of LinuxMCE is a hangover from the Pluto days and has never worked as advertised I'm afraid. That is not to say that what you are proposing is not a good idea though.

With vdr and the vdradmin-am package you can stream to VLC to by the way.

You could flash your dreambox with a neutrino image. Then it is supported by MythTV.
It works just like a PVR card in MythTV...

didn't knew they run neutrino, too.

Did a wiki page (was for the DBOX2 but should fit here, too):

Yes they run neutrino :)
You can find the Neutrino image here:

You have to register to enter the download section.

I got very excited when I saw this thread, until it went back to installing neutrino...

Indeed, I have an ITgate which is similar to a dreambox, runs enigma etc, but I don't think there is a neutrino image for it.

So if there is any progress with the modified template, that would work with enigma, please share :-)
I'll be happy to contribute too.

thanks

I will be looking into doing something similar myself (though now with a Dreambox)

There is a FTA satellite receiver called NFusion Nova which has an ethernet port on it. It can stream a modified mpeg2 transport stream over UDP. Though it is meant for a server based PVR (it only sends the mpeg stream after you hit the record button), I plan on trying to get it to work with mythtv.

There is already a freeware server which converts the modified mpeg2 transport stream into a true mpeg2 program stream, which will play in any media player. Since they are so similar in this aspect, maybe we should put together a team to get this in LMCE and working!

Did anybody manage to do that: Integrade video/Audio stream of a dreambox into MythTV (LinuxMCE)?
Btw, a more friendy URL to get HTTP stream from dreambox is:  http://192.168.1.1/video.m3u (the IP obviously is fake).

Somebody can even place username and password (if needed) within the URL as: http://root:dreambox@192.168.1.1/video.m3u

If a player is triggered with this URL then you have both video/audio of selected channel and since there is already a plugin that allows to switch channels the its ready to go!

Did anybody check it with neutrino image? Is it working?
