Title: 7.10 Beta-2 Install - 7925 bus error
Post by: adolimpio on January 10, 2008, 08:12:05 pm
The install of 7.10 Beta-2 fails with an error message: lite-installer: line 352   7925 bus error (core dumped ...

I am installing on a Dell XPS 1330 notebook. (2+GHz CPU dual core, 2G RAM, 160G SATA disk)

Any thoughts?

I have the same problem when I try to install from the DVD. I can't get the installation to work on one computer, but on another it works very well.

The following text appear on the screen:

Started installing on /dev/sda
/usr/bin/lite-installer.sh: line 223: 7181 Bus error               (core dumped
) parted -s "$TargetGdd" -- mklabel msdos
/usr/bin/lite-installer.sh: line 223: 7184 Bus error               (core dumped
) parted -s "$TargetGdd" -- mkpart primary ext2 0 -12GB

Followed by 4-5 similar lines with some changes at the ends.
Eventually it says:
/usr/bin/lite-installer.sh: line 241: /sbin/blockdev: Input/outpus error
/usr/bin/lite-installer.sh: line 247: 7203 Done                          echo y
         7204 Bus error                 (core dumped) | mkfs.ext3 "$TargetHdd"1

Maybe you should/could just upgrade to 7.10 RC2
