Or am I the only one just sitting here lurking in the forum... refreshing every so often... hoping to receive word that 7.10 is ready??
-
Doubtful ;)
-
;D Good....
-
I have been patiently waiting since the Turkey came out of the oven. :'(
-
Seems like there's a bit more activity here in the forums as well......I know I've posted more due to the fact that I've been here looking every day...
:P
-
You're not alone
-
nope, i keep on stopping by just for that, i'm holding off starting my real setup until 7.10 comes out..

Yeah, that's called "buyer's premorse" (the inverse of "buyer's remorse"). In commercial products, it slows down sales required to fund the new development when people wait for the new version. In $free projects it usually recruits more help in the project as it nears a new release.
-
Not long now ;)
-
now what is that suppose to mean????
do you know something, or are you just trying to torture us more??
-
nope.. Don't know anything more than you guys, just anticipating the release pretty soon..
-
I am killing time at work and this is as good a place as any. :o

Yeah, me and you both... I have a depressing feeling that 7.10 won't make it to us before Christmas... the poor developers have lives too.. and we're coming up on the weekend before the holiday...
-
No, definitely not alone, I'm logging on 5-6 times every day, just waiting for "that post"!
"... the suspense is killing me...."!
-
ditto, but about 25-30.
-
I just hit refresh on my browser. ::) Oh well my have to start the Holiday Cheer. :-\ I hope my hang over is not that bad when 0710 comes out.
-
We're trying very hard to get things done before this weekend.
If we don't make it, then it's going to come out after the holidays.
But I'm more hopeful today than I was yesterday.
-
Champion effort!
-
Great Job guys :)
We are all just very anxious to see the great things that will be coming in 0710. :o
It is just so tough not knowing.
Thanks again :-*
and I'll try to be patient. ::)
-
I'm busy working through the wiki, testing various instructions and revising them.
It might change with 0710, but if it doesn't, then the docs (and my setup) will be ahead of the game. If it does, I'm already familiar with the old process, which should put me ahead of the game in revising it again to work with the new version. And anyway, it gives me something constructive to do while I wait for the release. Very exciting.
-
Im here lurking too! But im also trying to start my journey in to c++ cause I'd like to do more than just benefit from the end result. But im am anxiously awaiting the new release too.
-
I'm madly trying to finish my insteon drivers.. hopefully, with auto configuration..
I'm not sure if I can have them ready for the 710 release.. it'll be close!
I've been informed that they can be a quick update after the 710 release if needed..
-
Definitely not the only one. I'm here (lurking) several times a day as well. Also waiting for 7.10 before I build a new rig. ;D
-
fingers crossed it gets finished before the weekend, waiting until afer Christmas will be torture - either way good work chaps :)
-
why don't you try the beta?
regards,
Hari
-
OK, I'll bite! WHAT BETA!??! Where is it???

there is a amd64 beta iso image out in the wild..
-
How wild is it. 1/2 hr on google found nothing. Happen to have a torrent or link or something? ;)
-
There is a way to build it yourself.... But I have not gotten it to work.

I know where beta 1 is, but if I tell it will probably down the server... :(

Do you mind if I post an announcement to the Users and Developers forums?

maybe you want to include a link to Daniel's post on the dev list:
http://www.charonmedia.org/pipermail/lmce-dev/2007-December/000205.html
but the beta is hardly tested. I just finished installation in a vm.

Well I would not use the words 'hardly tested'... its been tested pretty heavily here! But there are rough edges still... thats why its a Beta ;-)
Enjoy!
PS Beware this version will not be upgradeable to the release... you will need to do a new clean install

of course i meant this exact dvd build.

So tempting....but something tells me I should just wait. Nothing like toasting your system for xmas because you didn't know what you were doing. :)

installation went very smooth for me. Just adding some devices..

Hari - just started downloading, but I noticed that it is 5.12GB - is this supposed to fit on a single DVD, single layer, or do I need a dual layer blank? I will probably start in VM so I can use the .iso directly but for when I do want to burn it to media...
-
Yea what he said
5.12GB - is this supposed to fit on a single DVD
I am warming up my burner but do I need to run out and get some dual layers. ???

you need DL media or a good vm ;)

Yes you'll need a Dual layer disc for the upgrade iso

I'll take that as a "yes" then.
Also, I wondered how development was going on with the deserted maillist (http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=166973) linked from the LMCE.o homepage. That link should be changed from the little used SourceForge page to the real page at CharonMedia (http://www.charonmedia.org/mailman/listinfo/lmce-dev).

Well, that's the point of a beta: testing, by people not on the dev team. More feedback to use to make it better faster.
