Title: Creating a bootable quick install DVD
Post by: rorschach on December 11, 2007, 01:26:18 am
I downloaded the DVD .iso file but I'm having trouble creating a bootable DVD from it.  I used Nero to create a DVD from the .iso image without changing any settings at all.  I've tried mucking around with the settings for bootable discs but I *think* that the .iso should contain all that anyway.

I've also tried using CDBurnerXP to burn the DVD.

I reboot my computer with the disk in the drive and my BIOS set to boot from CD first.  It gives a "Boot from CD..." message and spins the DVD for a while but ends up going into Windows XP (which I have installed on that PC).  I'll be wiping that XP install and replacing it with LinuxMCE.

Do I need to specify different burn settings in Nero to create a bootable disk or should the boot data be included in the .iso already.  Has anyone created a bootable DVD using Nero?

Thanks!

Jeff

Yes I have created the "Easy Install DVD" from the ISO image using nero 7 - DVD was working without any changes when burning
In Win XP I whent to file explore and doubleclicked the ISO image - Nero started up and asked to insert a new blank DVD to burn.

My DELL Optiplex booted into the DVD without any problem and showed the grafical install menu - first question is witch HD to wipe and install into  (the easy install DVD will whipe your HD, so good by XP or what ever)

When this is said, I not up and runing jet - but who would excpet that after 25 min of linuxMCE...proberbly a isue with my ATI card, but havent verifyed this jet
