Title: MSI Media LIVE HDMI
Post by: DeadPenguin on December 01, 2007, 09:12:02 pm
Just got my MSI Media Live from Newegg yesterday.
I just got it put together. I got it hooked up via HDMI to my westinghouse 37" HDTV. I booted the pc to check it with a Kubuntu 7.10 live cd.

It boots and the MSI Boot splash does not fit inside the screen (runs off the edges). I looked into the BIOS to see if I needed to set output res or the output (HDMI) But didn't see anything like that in BIOS.
I booted Kubuntu 7.10 and it also ran off the screen.
I am not sure how to fix this. Any clue anyone?

Regards,
Blair

No we have never seen that on  our MSI Media Live units. Can you try attaching another display as test?

I have an Olevia upstairs I can try it on.
Thanks. I probably wouldn't have thought of that.
I will try it up there.

After a couple beers last night I was playing with my Westinghouse remote. It turns out it has a button that changes from "Fill" to "Standard". It was set to FIll which makes the screen way to big for MSI. Standard works like a charm. Kubuntu looked great after that.

Thanks.

Great! Pleased to hear your up and running... now you can try those little 'transport control' beneath the VFD display ;-)... Play a DVD and then give them a try :-)

I read the review on newegg says the DVD drives on these things is loud.  Is that the case for either of you?

a friend of mine said yes, its loud. I use a pioneer slot in and it's not silent, either. Those drives are very small and slot in's don't have a closing lid so there is hardly any damping.
