Title: RS232 controllable TV ?? Olevia 32" LCD
Post by: tkmedia on November 08, 2007, 05:38:30 pm
I have a Olevia 32" LCD which has rs232c port mini-din 8 pins.

There are discrete codes available www.olevia.com/rs232/rs232.aspx (http://www.olevia.com/rs232/rs232.aspx) I have the 232
So in theory this Tv should be able to be integrated into LinuxMCe right??   ;)

So here are my questions.

1. Cable - db9 serial to min d9in8 - strait thru or null modem ??
2. Is there a template for one of the  supported TV's that can be modified with Olevia codes. If so where and how can I edit it.
3. Proper mode line to get 1360x768 @60hz right now 1280x720 (Does not fill screen)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim

See: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Display_Drivers#Refresh_rate_.2F_ModeLine for some hints on setting up other modelines.  Can't really help you with the other questions though as I have no experience with that sort of thing (yet).

Maybe you want to look at the template for "Plasma RS232" (AV Equipment). It should give you a basic understanding how a TV device should like. Adding a new template for a rs232 controllable device is easy (see the Marantz page in the wiki). Don't forget to add "Live TV" as embedded device.
