Title: LMCE Fails to Install
Post by: jaydub on September 30, 2007, 05:33:43 am
So, I installed Ubuntu 7.04 using the alternate CD (instead of the Live CD so as to preserve my MBR which uses Boot It NG).  Per LCME instructions, I did NOT update the O/S at the Ubuntu site, so I had a virgin install.  I then loaded LMCE CD1, LMCE CD2 and Ubuntu Live CD (all of which are located on the HDD) into the LCME installer, and let the installer do its job.  However, about 90 minutes later, I receive a message saying LMCE failed to install.  Have no idea why.  It installs MythTv, but when I try to run MythTV is says it cannot find the back-end server.  I re-installed Ubuntu on a new partition and then installed LMCE, but I get the same message.  Any suggestions?

i dont suppose you mean Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu? LMCE runs on Kubuntu...not Ubuntu anymore as it previously did.

My bad.  You're right.  So, if I download the Kubuntu UI on top of Ubuntu, will that work?  Or do I have to download Kubuntu proper?

You need to download the Kubuntu 7.04 CD from;

http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/feisty/kubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso

Then download the lmxce-0704 CD's and follow the instructions on the Wiki;
