Title: Home automation

Very interested in the idea behind having a home automation system controlled from a pc ... I just dont understand the link between the home and the pc ... ie. can somebody explain basically what devices are needed and how they connect.  For example ... the device for your lights ?  what device and how do you connect it all up ?

The best place to look is the Wiki.  Basic questions like this are usually found on the wiki.
