Title: DVR CCTV Card
Post by: teedge77 on July 30, 2007, 11:20:08 pm
I don't know a lot about DVR cards. I would like to do the mythtv thing with Hauppauge or whatever; but what I need to figure out is how to do security cams, other than through IP cams. Is there a DVR CCTV card that is supported in LinuxMCE? Plans to support any?

I am not sure what is supported by linuxmce, but linux supports video input card based on the Conexant BT878 video capture chipset. I believe linuxmce is using Motion for the surv. cams.
I checked Motion wiki but just found a list of working cams. You can check V4L to see if a cam is working in Linux.
I have used my Kodicomm I got off Ebay with Zoneminder (another linux cctv  app.) Have my fingers crossed it will work with LinuxMCE. (it should.)

Blair

Thanks. I will look into some boards with that chipset and maybe try one out.

I have set up my crappy old usb webcam under LMCE (with motion)... and documented it right here (http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Logitech_QuickCam_Sphere).  Might be of some use.

DeadPenguin,  Did you get your Kodicomm card + Zoneminder to work with LinuxMCE?  I would be very interested to see if that did work/how you did it.  Thanks!

I am still waiting on funding. i got $400 in bonus money coming next thursday. I still have to get a 500gb HD - hauppauge 500 - Sipura 3000 - usb UIRT. (remote if I can find some more money.)
I will be back at my place Monday. I can rob a 160gb PATA from my hacked Xbox to test the cctv card.  Its been a difficult wait especially after I just stumbled across the new Linuxmce 704 demo video. http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Video (http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Video)
