Title: net install of 14.04 is currently broken[solved]
Post by: maverick0815 on January 31, 2016, 12:38:36 pm
I just tried a net install of 14.04 to make a hybrid.
the script quit with unmet dependencies:
lmce-hybrid: depends lmce-md-meta but it is not going to be installed
                    depends lmce-core but it is not going to be installed

right now I'm downloading the latest snapshot of 14.04, hopefully it works.

Just finished installing the 14.04  snapshot dating January 1st 2016
I got no sound via HDMI (nvidia gt610)
There were probably several problems getting some package, unfortunately I didn't get it all...at least it said failed to download Mysql-client, pluto-mythtv-player, pluto-xine-plugin
Webadmin was not accessible
Hard drives were not detected

For now i will try to go back to 12.04, because I neglected to create a proper backup.

Cheers,
Mario

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll check the 1404 repo today.  We had some issues with our first git built package versions that we've fixed up in 1204, didn't realize 1404 might be affected, although I should have.  Thanks for testing!

Well, I really don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but the same things happen when I try to install 12.04...I got no sound, webadmin  doesn't work, I cannot setup up mythtv

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/LinuxMCE-1204/1404_Updates  <- check here, until the updates are pushed to the main repo I'm afraid you'll have issues no matter what you do.  :|  It is being worked on.

I understand...I will wait until this is fixed and then try again. I really appreciate what you guys are doing.
I'll hold my fingers crossed :-)

Updates are in, things should upgrade properly now.  I've tested the Jan. 01 1204 and 1404 DVDs for installation/upgrading/media.

What is this?  You will need to provide some specifics about your installation and what you are doing for this to mean anything.

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 12:05:04 -0500 Failed to get data from PK_InfraredGroup=6038&PK_DeviceTemplate=2033&Restricted=0

This error is not related to pkgs, but to something trying to update IR data that doesn't exist on the server.  As best I can tell.  This is unrelated to upgrade errors and will need to be solved seperately.  Feel free to open a new thread darkwizard864.

I am aware of that.  But it is something else causing your failure, not package versioning issues that we are dealing with in this thread :)

Please open a new thread for your issue darkwizard.  Thank you.

I have just completed a fresh 1404 i386 kubuntu install (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/14.04/release/kubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso) and followed the instructions at: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_1404.  There is absolutely no problem.  Everything installs perfectly.

Please triple check what you are doing.  It takes a lot of time for me to test these things and that time could be much better spent.

Hy,

i just did a successful 14.04 net install.

I had problems with fresh 12.04 and 14.04 getting audio via hdmi to work in the past.
But now it is working out of the box!
The whole installation went totally smooth.

Will "customize" the new installation later.

Big thank You! Great Work!

p.s.:

this is my graphic card:

I did a fresh net install yesterday.
on the first run of AVWizard, the NVIDIA-drivers were not present., only the TV-Card was offered for sound. I went through it and in the end clicked on disagree. This brought me back to a black screen and a hang up. I rebooted, went through the wizard, this time with NVIDIA-drivers automatically loaded and with sound :-)

The only thing left now, is the missing setup for Mythtv under Computing. I know Phenigma told me what package I need to reinstall, but unfortunately I forgot.
Other than that, I seem to have trouble opening ports in the firewall.
Title: Re: net install of 14.04 is currently broken[solved]
Post by: phenigma on February 05, 2016, 04:34:26 pm
Not having nvidia drivers installed is definitely a bug in the initial boot.  Based on what I know of the scripts I'm not even sure how that is possible to occur, but needs some investigation.

The mythtv-setup icon is created by the pluto-mythtv-player package's postinst.  If it is not available then something likely did not complete there, again that would be a bug if we can figure out why.

Thanks for testing and reporting!

I don't believe it is missing, but it may not be configured fully.  The switch to 0.27.5 changed a few things a few months back.  None of the developers use mythtv at all so this will fall to those that use it to troubleshoot and provide/suggest fixes.  :)  Thanks.

Most of the info/settings for it are in /etc/apache2/sites-available and the active sites are symlinked into /etc/apache2/sites-active or something like that.

J.
Title: Re: net install of 14.04 is currently broken[solved]
Post by: maverick0815 on February 05, 2016, 10:12:21 pm
I have checked that. /etc/apache2/sites-enabled has a symlink for mythweb.conf, which is in /etc/apache2/sites-available
I also verified in the mythweb.conf the directory tags
Quote
<Directory "/var/www/html/mythweb/data">
Options +FollowSymLinks +IncludesNoExec
<Directory "var/www/hml/mythweb" >

That is also what I'm supposed to check according to mythtv.org
The links are all working..so right now I don't know what else to check for.
I always get
Quote
The requested URL /mythweb/ was not found on this server.
for dcerouter/mythweb
unless the url has changed to something I don't know...well I don't know why its not running, but of course my knowledge is limited

i dont know if i can help you,but i saw a error in your last post.

<Directory "/var/www/html/mythweb/data">
Options +FollowSymLinks +IncludesNoExec
<Directory "var/www/hml/mythweb" >

the last directory is wrong. It should be "var/www/html/mythweb",there is a t missing.Maybe its a typo or something wrong at your conf.
