Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all have a great 2015!
To start your year off right I would like to announce Blu-Ray disc playback is now available in LinuxMCE. This is still in early stages and there are some system bits that still need to be flushed out but the basic functionality is there now.
sqlcvs update your dce repo
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get install libaacs-data-installer libbdplus-data-installer
This will get you completely OSS BD playback. Many discs manufactured before 2012 will play but lots will not.
To add a closed source package that will allow you to play back most discs you can then
apt-get install makemkv-bin
This will automatically replace the OSS libs and use the closed source makemkv package. Please note: MakeMKV is a time limited piece of software, it expires after 30 days and new packages will need to be created and installed. If you have issues with this you can allways uninstall makemkv-bin and makemkv-oss to return to full OSS playback.
Happy LinuxMCEing!
J.
ps. Just like using libdvdcss to playback DVD discs in Linux using libaacs and libbdplus could be restricted in your region.

Happy New Year to you as well.
Thanks for the info... I'll give it a shot.

Amazing. Not long ago I remember people saying it was impossible / would never happen :)

I followed the instructions listed. Unable to get any further than the disk-detected message... I no longer get the message asking to 'rip' the bluray.

Can you run the following command for me:
dpkg -l | pastebinit
and pastebin your Xine_Player log file. I'll see if I notice anything immediately.

here is the Xine_Player.log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9674221/ (http://paste.ubuntu.com/9674221/)
Note that there is information for a bluray file playing in the log (Tron Legacy). Several attempts with bluray discs placed into the drive were made but Xine_Player log never gets any information about them.

Weird, it's not getting to Xine_Player. Did you sqlcvs update everything? Did you apt-get upgrade everything?

I did a sqlcvs diff first.. no differences indicated. I tried the sqlcvs update but nothing happened other than a reload of the web page.
I verified apt-upgrade is up-to-date.
DVDs launch as normal.
Obviously something is not right... but not sure where to look.
Note: I am running 12.04

This is the issue. You need to sqlCVS update. You must enable pop-ups in your browser for sqlcvs update to work. Diff will only show if you have made changes to your local system.

;D Nice. Everything I have plays with makemkv-bin. So far one disc has decrypt errors during playback but it is an old Concert Blu-Ray.

Yesterday i had to shop around for my first Blu-Ray disc, since i have an AsRock MD with Blu-Ray reader in my living room. It worked flawlessly :D
The movie was Cold Mountain BTW :)

I put the bd-drive in my server, popped a disk in...and it plays. Then I thought of trying it on my me...went to manage drives, clicked on my Ford's drive to play....no dice. So that means this works only if the md in question has a be-drive too.

BDs can only play locally due to how AACS is implemented in conjunction with the drive, as apposed to DVD where CSS protection is only on the disc. A ripping method is being investigated/worked on. There are some hurdles to overcome for it to be useful though.
