On my MD I often get a black screen. I can still press F7 to show the menu but the content that was showing is not visible anymore. Any suggestions?
-
anyone else experiencing this? So the screensaver disappears and I get a black screen. Then I press F7 and the menu shows again properly. When I select a menu item the next item disappears immediately again and so I am looking at a black screen again.
My MD is running on a asus at3iont http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ASUS_AT3IONT

Hi,
What version of 12.04 are you running?
Regards
-
Hi pigdog,
thx for your reply. Is there any way to find that on the install? I don't have the iso anymore.
-
Hi,
In webadmin it used to be under installation but I don't see it there anymore...
...maybe I was thinking of somewhere else, but I don't think so.
Anyway you can always go into webadmin > advanced > software > Software versions and with "Core" selected as which computer? scroll down to the LMCE packages and you should see the build date.
It will be something like X.X.X.XX.14032328853 meaning - I believe - 2014 Mar. 23 28853 build.
Cheers.

Most are 2.0.0.46.14030128788 on my core while my md has a lot of 2.0.0.46.13032527365 also. you suggest to sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade the MD first?
-
Hi,
Unfortunately the 28788 release is no longer in the snapshots.
Have you been doing updates/upgrades on your core?
-
jes. I did apt-get upgrade a few times. Also I use the latests kernel on the core (not on the MDs)
-
Hi,
I've been testing the latest snapshots and there has been some networking issues.
Since you aren't having any Core issues I guess it would be OK to update/upgrade the MD.
If anything major occurred you could always delete the MD and then recreate the MD from the Core software.

Hi again,
If it is only the screensaver that times out and you lose the Flickr screen what about turning the screensaver off?
-
Its also the menu. When I click an item on the menu (say power) then the power screen also disappears. I am upgrading as we speak and will see if it makes a difference.
thx thus far.
-
OK,
Let us know what happens.
Good Luck.
-
I am confused. I sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade both the core as the MD but they still have different versions.
-
Hi,
Maybe this will help, or at least point you in the right direction.

Are you having the same screen issue?
Cheers.

What UI are you running; 1, 2, 2+alpha?

Interesting. I did not know you can set version preferences in etc/apt/preferences . But since it only shows the old version it does not help me much. I had/have an issue on my core but since that is updated and the MD's just mount the directories on the core that should not make any difference. (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=13619.0)
Are you having the same screen issue?
Unfortunately yes. Since it did not update most of the packages.

apparently the version difference is by design as possy replied in the ticket I created ( http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac/ticket/2113 ).
Still leaves the original issue that the screen disappears....
-
G'day.
Did you think about playing with Nvidia drivers or did you not want to go there?
Cheers.
