Title: subtitles & xinefonts
Post by: Itsik on December 27, 2013, 02:13:41 pm
In 8.10 and before, in order to add xine fonts for unsupoported subtitles languages, we added the to
Code: [Select]
/opt/libxine/share/xine/libxine1/fontsThis directory no longer exists on 10.04. Creating the directory and placing the fonts there doesn't work. The only other directory I found containing xine fonts is
Code: [Select]
/opt/libxine/share/xine/libxine1/fonts, but it doesn't read them from there either.
Any idea where the LMCE xine reads it subtitles fonts form ?

Thnx
Itsik

Try this?

Code: [Select]

Try creating the folder
mkdir -p /opt/libxine/share/xine/libxine1/fonts

Drop the fonts in, then edit /etc/pluto/xine.conf adding the following (assuming it does not already exist) and give it a try.

subtitles.separate.font:<name of the installed font>

subtitles.separate.src_encoding:<the correct encoding>

I am not sure this will work, but lets start there. I am going over the source looking for a better clue.

Not yet. Somewhere, we are setting our own variables, or we used to and are not any longer. The initial directory given will affect the Xine player in desktop. We specify, or should be specifying our own, and I haven't figured out where yet.

Well, nice to see someone set the ticket to "invalid" and closed it.
I guess LMCE is only for those who's native language is English ...

Itsik,

LinuxMCE works in my country and language settings as well. Maybe nobody cared to maintain something for your country. How about you?

Possy, I did not ask for maintenance, I simply asked for some info I have no way of finding out (mainly, where does the 10.04 version of the xine player reads its subtitle fonts from) ...

There has been no change in our part of the system. So *if* things are no longer where they used to be, check with xine.

Been a couple of weeks, but we are using libxine2, not libxine1.  That could be part of the issue.  I believe that fonts are all stored internationalized somewhere now.  But I have no idea where.

Fyi, I am the one that closed the tiket.  If you have any issues please feel free to discuss them with me.  Subtitles play for me in Xine too.  I wish I could turn them off.

Um.  No, I don't think so.  I had put out a Xine_Player binary that was linked against libxine2 in 0810, but libxine2 was not available in any intrepid repositories at the time.  Default was libxine1 for 0810.
