Title: Dianemo S: No MP3 Tags are added anymore
Post by: murcel on December 09, 2012, 09:59:55 pm
Dear Andrew,

wanted to re-organize my mp3 again (because of duplicate tags).
So i followed the guidelines in
http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=12543.0 (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=12543.0)

But after restoring teh blank database, no more attributes are added by updatemedia.
Did the upgrade of updatemedia changed the database?

Hi Murcel,

We have made some changes to UpdateMedia to better support iTunes  - we now use hooks into Logitech Media Server so any tags that are read by LMS will now be correctly handled by Dianemo too. This should have no negative effect on non iTunes mp3 files and had the advantage that whatever LMS see's in the iTunes library will now be accurately reflected in Dianemo (including iTunes playlists which will be accessible from your Dianemo Orbiters)

If you access LMS in Web Admin are your MP3 tags/meta data handled correctly when you browse the Media Library?

All the best

Andrew

Good. Do you see mp3 tag metadata for your music in LMS? Its possible that UpdateMedia and LMS's media scan have got out of synch.

We've cleared your DB and UpdateMedia is now doing a rescan... lets see if that corrects the problem.

How can i clear it by myself?
I just did it to remove all from dianemo added double tags from my mp3 and then let them update directory by directory, so i can control, whats get added.

EDIT: They don't get added.

Hi Murcel,

The LMS Scan took about 12 hours (there is a lot of it!) and has now completed and I can see your audio media on Windows Share Dev. #78 in Wed Admin via Media Files Sync. All meta data looks to be there as far as I can tell - take a look.

By the way we noticed your NC's memory is only 2 GB of RAM and 2 GB of swap, 1.5 GB of each is used, so we assume there might be some memory pressure condition at some point too, but you may be lucky and not encounter it. We'd recommend going to 4GB though.

All the best

Thanks for the recommendation. BTW, manual sync seems to work now.
But on equestion.
How can i manually clear the db, to start over again?

Re clearing the DB and starting over; there is no way to do that simply at the moment as it requires some rather risky mysql queries. We are planning to either write a 'safe' script that will allow this or possibly a Web Admin page.

Dear Andrew,

how can i manually "resyncronise"?

I mean, even with your changes in some directories the tags are not added.
i hit the "resyncronize" button in webadmin, but it does not find any changes.
i made a rescan with lms, but still the same, no tags are added.

Even when i change the mp3 file directly, sometimes "resyncronize" finds that it was changed, but does not take the changes into consideration.

Dear Andrew,

does it mean, that, i can tag my mp3s outside of dianemo, lms will pick it up some time and updatemedia overwrite (?) or syncronize(?) the tags with dianemo?

Hi Murcel,

Whatever LMS reads from your mp3's will be provided to UpdateMedia. None of UpdateMedia's capabilities have been modified or extended other than the interface to LMS. However over time you can expect to see UpdateMedia go away...but as with much of the underlying Pluto originated software it is entwined closely with the system, and so rather complex to unravel.

Dear Andrew,

how long does it take, that updatemedia is taking over the changes?
LMS has an album already since two weeks indexed.
In Webadmin the album is still shown as not added to database.
UpdateMedia is enabled.
In Weborbiter the album is not existing.

2 Questions:

1. How can i make updatemedia work?
2. Again, may i use an external app for tagging, as the dataflow (id3) is Windows Tagger->LMS->UpdateMedia?

EDIT:
when i was searching for a song, i realized, that some songs where missing.
I took at loog at LMS, to make sure, they exist. Just to be sure, i tagged them again with a windows tool
Then i went to LMS, made a res<nc. It found 36 changes.
Went back to webadmin and made a resync of these two directories, where i knew, that the files are resisting in.

Got back to weborbitor, but still those files are missing-
