Title: Can I use a motor device for blinds or should I change the whole shades?
Post by: torontob on November 09, 2012, 06:44:50 am
Hi everyone,

Trying to put this together for a window that is split into 9 sections. Of course it would be easier and cheaper to stick to regular blinds and I am hoping to find some motor to connect to blinds to control them. However, I am not sure if I can simply find a module for them. Do I have to buy curtains that are specifically built to be controlled and come with a kit? If so, please link me to a few available in USA/Canada.

Thanks

There is hardware out there for roller shades, blinds and drapes. Your choice. Adding a motor to an existing shade I'm not sure but sounds like something home built.

I did add motors to my existing roller shades recently. Nothing homebuilt, I did just put a somfy motor (Ilmo 40 WT) into the existing shaft. I also had to swap the shaft adapters from flexible ones to fixed. That allows the Somfy Ilmo to detect the end position without any switches.

I stand mistaken.

So there is an option as well.
