Title: Outdated /etc/apt/sources.list ?
Post by: geirgp on March 31, 2012, 01:16:28 am
During the LMCE 8.10 installation I can see that it tries to download a lot off stuff (mythtv, etc), but it also reports that these downloads fail.

I ssh'ed into the server and ran 'apt-get update':
Code: [Select]

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

The server (archive.ubuntu.com) is up, but it does not have any of the above listed files. Has Ubuntu recently removed them? Can I  them anywhere else?

Thanks,
Geir

Since you did not say what method of installation you were using I can only point to two places for possible help. First is the wiki page for installing 8.10  //wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_0810 ... the second is in the user forum //forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,10901.0.html  ... Both should give an idea as to how sources.list should look. I recommend downloading the dvd for installation. It has worked well for me.

Please ignore the 404s for archive. They happen due to some ConfirmDependencies adding those sources. And no, it won't get fixed. You may remove them if you like though.
