Title: Importing old MythTV shows
Post by: ipartola on March 23, 2007, 09:01:06 pm
I was wondering if anybody knows whether it is possible to back up old shows and then import them into Linux MCE (I currently run MythTV on Gentoo). Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, answered my own question: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Backup_your_database

I think I just need to dump the database and then restore it under the new setup. Other than that I'd need to just point MythTV to the location of the .nuv files on the file system. Hope this works. I don't want to lose hours of Futurama...

I haven't done a gentoo -> lmce backup/restore of myth, but I have backed up my myth database and restored it on a clean lmce install, and it works fine.  lmce will show all your existing recordings in the 'video', together with dvd's and any other video content.  There's a filter at the bottom for 'tv shows' that filters out just the shows myth recorded.

i have used myth.rebuilddatabase to import my existing shows into the myth database. For the life of me though i can NOT get any of the Filter by type settings to work. If i click on anything other than "All" it is completely blank. Does anyone know how to mark a file as a tv show and have it actually show up in the tv shows category?
