I've been ripping some Christmas music CDs, many of which are compilations. When I sort by performer or title, I get a display of the 20 different tracks, as expected. However, when I sort by album, I still get 20 different selections instead of just the one album picture. Can anyone tell me why this happens and how to fix? I've been digging around in Media Sync and changing attributes with no luck.

Hi twodogs,
Goto Files & Media | Media Browser, select Album and search for your album.
On the right side, below the selection boxes you can click on Properties of that album and then alter the album art to your lickings.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, but its not an album art problem. Why does LMCE think I have 3 albums called "Rattle and Hum"? I have an album with 14 tracks by U2, and album with one track by BB King, and an album with one track by Jimmy Hendrix. My Christmas album compilations with different artists are the worst - LMCE declares a different album for each track - all with the same name and cover art.

Right now, media in the media plugin assumes that albums are linked directly to performers, a better solution needs to be found, given our schema. Any help in this area would be much appreciated.

I would suggest, using my previous mentioned, Files & Media | Media Browser -Webpage;
Select the songs you want in 1 album using the filter-checkboxes;
Delete the album attribute of those songs and in then add a album-attribute for the selected songs.
I must say, i haven't tried this though.

Did you rip the data with LinuxMCE or did you rip it outside?

For what it is worth, I ripped a couple Christmas CD's and had the same result as twodogs.

I ripped from a CD with LinuxMCE.

Same here. In some cases the tags were incomplete, like album name was Julens S when it is supposed to be "Julens SÃ¥nger".
I think that this only happens when the tags include special characters.
