Title: Newbie With install problems....
Post by: marcb on April 27, 2011, 03:00:39 pm
Hello,

This is my first post on this forum although i have been reading for while, i purchased a dianemo nerve centre ~(NC300) which i received today.

It booted fine and was able to setup users and rooms, i then went on to try and pxe boot my zotac HD-ID11 it failed at DisklessSetup.sh i saw in another post that you sometimes need to change the architecture back to i386 in webadmin which i did as it was set to 64bit, this made no difference still fails at DisklessSetup.sh.

The other bit of existing hardware i have that i can connect straight away is my linksys spa3102, but when i try to access phone lines in webadmin it says asterisk database cannot be found, i have selected asterisk in the core settings and it's had a restart since then. Any ideas or pointers to posts would be appreciated.

I also have a gigaset a580 ip dect handset and a sharecenter which as of yet i've done nothing with.

I'm off to go and run the satellite cables to the core maybe i can get the tv working!

Thanks

Marc

Hi Marc,

Please leave your NC up and someone from support will look into the diskless setup issue remotely later today - it has nothing to do with the architecture you choose in Web Admin. We are working on an update to the Asterisk packages right now and i hope they will be available shortly - they are currently disabled while this work is underway. This Asterisk problem is something that was picked up during the transition to LinuxMCE 10.04 & Dianemo 10.10 and has proved to be a little more complex than expected unfortunately.

Good luck with the cable pulling!

Cheers

Hi Marc,

We've kicked of a rebuild of your diskless boot image on your NC which should fix your problem and this should be complete in about 30 mins or so.

All the best

Hi Andew

Thanks for the quick responce, the pxe boot is getting further now......this what i am getting:

(The first few letters on the left have been chopped off, but this is what I can see)

Idmapd main process (809) terminated with status 1
Idmapd respawning too fast, stopped
isk drive for /usr /pluto/orbiter is not ready yet or not present
nue to wait; or Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery

There is obviously more text on the screen just more of the same with the number in brackets being replaced with:
444
661
702
732
740
758
778

Then we have
Isk drive for /usr/pluto/keys is not responding..........

And

Isk drive for /usr/pluto/deb-cache is not........

gdm main process (868) killed by term signal

And then just sits there i have left it twenty minutes before rebooting and getting the same.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Marc

Hi Marc,

Hmmm... thats very strange. We're looking into it further now. By the way your broadband seems incredibly slow. Do you have any bandwidth hungry processes running on other machine on your LAN?

Cheers

Ok...should be fixed now. Looks like the nVidia drivers were not installed properly. We're reooting your MM now...it should boot into the AVwizard and then you can complete the wizard as normal.

All the best

Hi Marc,

Can you boot your MM please and leave it up so that we can look into your boot problems?

All the best

I think, Dianemo should get a couple of Lantronix spiders and ship them for an initial period of 4-6 weeks, to get things sorted out... ;)

Hi Marc,

Ok I think we've fixed the problem - a stale IP address was being used by NIS. It's a pretty rare problem to hit, triggered ironically by some pre-ship bench tests we run, and we will update some scripts to fix this later this week. You'll get that update when its ready.

We have rebooted your MM and it should now complete its boot up and you should be able to complete the AVwizard now (as described in the Wiki).

All the best

Hmmm... please leve the unit powered up and accessible. What do you see on-screen during boot and once it has been powered up for several minutes?

Sorry Marc...I only just saw your post above. I will ask Winston to confirm your login/pass to you tomorrow.

By the way we have made great progress on the Asterisk packages in the last day or so and we should be releasing them in the next day or so hopefully - this will deliver all the Orbiter integration features that were broken in the transition to 10.10.

All the best

There is no ftp server installed by default and it looks like you have not installed one either. So I would suggest you try using scp instead as you user/pass will work with that.

All the best

Me again...

I just tried to pxe boot the zotac and it gets stuck staight away after it recieves an ip address:

PXE-E32: TFTP open timeout

TFTP....

I think i might have caused this problem when i installed vnc4server? ::)

I have installed openvpn and nftytool aswell but dont think they would have caused an issue.

Thanks

Well I dont think vnc4server would cause a problem but I'll look into that.

Did you see my IM messages to you here on the forum regarding email replies bouncing when sent to you tonight?

Mark you seem to have installed xinetd on the your Core and this is affecting the ability to get the MM we're working on to get PXE boot working. We really need to replace it with OpenBSD inetd. Are you ok with that?

Cheers

Is Xinetd use to start openvpn? or have i got that completely wrong....

i dont have an issue if it does the same job and it works.....Xinetd must have been installed as part of a install package of openvpn or vnc4server.

Thanks
