Title: Snapshot 23708 audio-video on MD - Solved kinda.
Post by: pigdog on February 08, 2011, 04:38:19 pm
Hi all,

I rebuilt my system using the 23708 snapshot.

My Core plays VOB's and M2TS (albeit the m2ts files are choppy - on Nvidia GS8400 using analog audio).

My MD using Revo 330 use to do HDMI video and audio but this time no Sarah or audio during initial AV Wizard.

On the MD aplay -l doesn't show NVIDIA HDMI as an option.

I had to set MD audio via KDE to use SPDIF as audio output.

Both Core and MD using alsa 1.0.18, 2.6.27-17-generic & 195 Nvidia drivers

MD plays M2TS with audio (choppy again) but fails to play VOB files.  Screen returns to flickr pics with play/pause icons.

I've installed all codecs and lib files.

Scratching my head now - looking for ideas.

P.S.  I also upgraded MPlayer to vdpau version in avenard repo on Core and MD.  Only mplayer - nothing else.

Tonight there will be a new snapshot ready
I will test it, and see if I can reproduce your problems.

That alsa version is well outdated isn't it?

Did you manually shove that in? Because I think LMCE is pinned at 1.0.23.

Hi.

When I issue a

cat /proc/asound/version on my Core it shows version 1.0.23.

When I do it on the MD it shows 1.0.17

When I run alsamixer on both the Core and MD it says version 1.0.18

Hi.

When I issue a

cat /proc/asound/version on my Core it shows version 1.0.23.

When I do it on the MD it shows 1.0.17

When I run alsamixer on both the Core and MD it says version 1.0.18

So 1.0.18 is the version of Alsamixer.
Your MD version is wrong. I don't know why. I would try to make changes to the audio and rebuild the image, and see if it grabs the right version. If that didn't work I would ssh into the moon unit and try and shoehorn 1.0.23 into it... that might not be smart advice. You might do ok with an upgrade on the moon, but if audio is all that is goofy, I would install the right version manually.

On the core where XX is the moon number:
Code: [Select]
chroot /usr/pluto/diskless/XX passwdChange the password

Code: [Select]
ssh root@moonXXNew password, then I would do this:

Hey bongowongo did your snapshot work?

I finally got some time today and I recompliled alsa-driver, utils and lib packages on my MD.

When I issue cat /proc/asound/version on the MD it nows says 1.0.23

When I run alsamixer it shows 1.0.23.

KDE sound architecture then had NVIDIA-HDMI as an option.

I made it the preference and then reran AV Wizard again.

I got sound on VOB files but have lost sound on m2ts files but BD's are chewing up CPU%'s so something isn't quite right in my MPlayer vdpau acceleration setup.

My Core is still running alsamixer 1.0.18 with asound version 1.0.23.  Fix that later.

I'm curious whether the 23708 snapshot was a bit wonky and a later variant was O.K?

Cheers

P.S.  When I now play the VOB's they run with sound and I am not punted back to flicker (for those with that problem).
