Title: Xine subtitles on ripped iso files
Post by: daballiemo on October 22, 2010, 01:15:39 pm
Gents,

I have a long standing issue with DVD subtitles on LinuxMCE. As long as the DVD (as iso in the media dir) has a full menu, I am able to select subtitles through the DVD options menu.

Now for the DVD's that have been ripped and have no menu at all, the DVD options menu does not show any subtitles

1) As Xine is used to do the play back I went along  checking on my laptop: in the xine menu the subtitle shows as subtitle nr 1 (Netherlands) for the same DVD, after selecting it the subtitle shows.
2) Because LCME is capturing all the keyboard strokes the "!" and "," keys (which normally rotate through the subtitles) are not arriving within Xine-player hence no change.
3) Using the webmin interface I used the "send command to device" option to send a key stroke to the Xine-player:
Code: [Select]
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195           Received Message from 0 (unknown / ) to 191 (Xine Player / keuken), type 1 id 28 Command:Simulate Keypress, retry none, parameters: <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195             Parameter 26(PK_Button): ! <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195             Parameter 41(StreamID): 1005 <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195             Parameter 50(Name): Xine <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 13:11:06.249           Socket::ReceiveData 0xad198f48 failed, bytes left 0 start: 26970000 1: 0 1b: 0 2: 0 2b: 0 m_Socket: 165 Incoming_Conn Socket 165 127.0.0.1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 13:11:06.249           Socket::ReceiveString2 ReceiveData failed m_Socket: -1 Incoming_Conn Socket 165 127.0.0.1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 13:11:06.249           TCPIP: Closing connection to -1003 (Router Dev #0) 0xad198f48 m_Socket: -1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 13:11:06.249           Router::RemoveAndDeleteSocket 0xad198f48 -1003 <0x6b87cb90>

No result.

4) Using the above I also used the "subtitle" option:
Code: [Select]
08      10/22/10 12:58:56.923           Received Message from 0 (unknown / ) to 191 (Xine Player / keuken), type 1 id 141 Command:Subtitle, retry none, parameters: <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 12:58:56.923             Parameter 5(Value To Assign): NL <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 12:58:56.923             Parameter 41(StreamID): 1005 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.925           Socket::ReceiveData 0xad198fb0 failed, bytes left 0 start: 25220000 1: 0 1b: 0 2: 0 2b: 0 m_Socket: 165 Incoming_Conn Socket 165 127.0.0.1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.925           Socket::ReceiveString2 ReceiveData failed m_Socket: -1 Incoming_Conn Socket 165 127.0.0.1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.926           TCPIP: Closing connection to -1003 (Router Dev #0) 0xad198fb0 m_Socket: -1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.926           Router::RemoveAndDeleteSocket 0xad198fb0 -1003 <0x6b87cb90>

No result either.

I am running out of options and I do not want to use another tool (XBMC etc) so if somebody has got any direction I would be grateful!!

Also alternatives to the commands above did not work. Any other way to get the subs on the screen ???
