Title: MP4 Embedded tags
Post by: DeathMagnetic on June 20, 2010, 09:15:46 pm
Does MCE support embedded tags in MP4 files? I've been tagging a few movies in windows by adding cover art, actors, genres etc. and was wondering how wel they are supported in MCE or if I would need to do anything to the tags to make them compatible (I use mp3tag so changing the names of tags is simple enough.

I wasn't even aware this was possible.

A new file handler would need to be made for UpdateMedia to handle the metadata. Anyone want to do this?

I've been using MetaX to tag the files which is not bad, but it tags them in iTunes format, which uses xml to store the majority of the information in a tag labeled "ITUNMOVI". None of this gets translated to WMP12 so I'm having to reenter the info in either the properties window or inside WMP12. I'm not sure if these are saved in the file or an external WMP database though.

I can export the tags from mp3tag if you want.
