upon a reinstall of LMCE i install Hulu, after a restart and a complete regen Hulu reports there is no flash so i follow the wiki http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_Flash there download link did not work only flash 10 is available from adobe, so i tried the wiki with flash 10 but it did not work.
-
This has never happened in any of the test installs we've done. We deliberately install Flash.
-Thom
-
Well it has now happened to 2 beta testers. I installed hulu desktop today and also got the flash error.
I am sure that flash is installed, but there is an issue in there somewhere.
-
I can test the latest snapshot (LinuxMCE-8.10-23082-i386.iso 18-Jun-2010 08:16 3.8G)
-
Re-installed with above mentioned snapshot and i still get the same error.
-
can you print me the contents of your /root/.huludesktop file and the output of dpkg -s flashplugin-nonfree (assuming of course, you did not manually install it.)

-
missing a quote
-
what do you mean missing a quote
-
NM, I thought whatever followed name required quotes, and saw your end quote.
Flash in general seems problematic on latest image. I watched it install during setup... but can't watch youtube or other flash content now.
-
Flash always worked in hulu untill this recent reinstall. i don't know about firefox as the resolution for KDE apps just sucks so i never tested them. I just use it as a media center/gateway
-
I installed using the Snapshot from 18th June and could not watch you tube videos. I installed flash 10 from the link on Youtube and both Youtube and Hulu now work
-
Did you mean they now work.
As i tried that before posting the thread and it did not work fore me, what commands did you use (how did you do it)
-
Yes, installing the .deb from adobe's website works. just go to youtube and try to play a video, when it prompts you to install the plugin, use the hyperlink which takes you to adobe's website. choose the .deb file and when it is downloaded to the desktop, click it from there. That is the only way I could get it to work. Using mozilla to launch it and every other method I tried failed.
-
i tried using the command line but didn't work.
the way you suggested worked perfect thanks.
-
Hmm I had this problem and did :
wget http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
dpkg -i install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
rm install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
and Hulu works now

Tred, you're AWESOME! I was having problems with flash in general and your fix worked. I tried doing the search for the flashplugin like Riggs and had the same result. This was my second install in 2 days and I've had problems with 710 and flash too. Everythings good now thanks again. Much thanks to those who put their heart into the development, its getting better and better, Thanks!
