Hi All
I'm in the planning stages of migrating from MythTV to LinuxMCE. I know that I will have to migrate my current file stores from my custom ones to the MCE defaults, and will have to update host names for the backend/core among other things. I'll try and keep a note of the changes I have made to create a Wiki page for others thinking about the migration.
One thing that I would like to know is, after I have migrated the backend functions from my current MythTV Backend to the MCE Core, can I connect my current Myth Frontend to the new core (once I have updated where it is to find the backend)? Or has there been to many MCE customizations for a standard MythTV Frontend to connect and work successfully?
It would be of advantage to the WAF to initially have a seamless migration (read "she has no idea it has happened") while I tune the backend and get the MD's operational.

If you're running MythTV 0.23, you would be able to do this.

Hi,
I believe every myth frontend can connect to the lmce mythbackend as long as versions are the same.

Which is what I said, in a different way. We recently upgraded to MythTV 0.23, are you running this on your backend?

Yea I'm running a 0.23 backend, so by all accounts, should be good for that part of the migration then.
Now to find the time to finish the migration plan
Thanks

I am also interested in migrating from MythTV to LinuxMCE... I am running 0.22, but will be upgrading to 0.23...
How far did you get in your plan? Even a brief outline for me as a starting point would be fine. Just trying to figure out what I may need.

Well since your running 0.23 already and LinuxMCE-0810 is running that version too there should be no problems at all. You can use your existing MythTV-0.23 based frontends to access just the new MythTV backend running on the LinuxMCE Core...this has good WAF as there will be no visible difference is use.
All the best

Hi,
In this thread http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=9346.0 (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=9346.0) daballiemo
reports unwanted upgrades of the LMCE myth-backend when combined with Mythbuntu.
Is there a way to prevent these?
