LMCE as complete security system.
« on: October 17, 2012, 02:51:20 am »
Hi,
i did purchase a 20.000 sq feet land yard and will build a new house. I'm planning to use lmce as the heart and core of this new house and also be the security controller.
Which would be the best technology integrated with lmce to build up the security, with perimeter and motion sensors, alarm panels and lightning, to have it secure? KNX, Z-wave, X-10?
Help are very welcome.
TIA,
Paulo

pw44,

apart from davegravy's link, tell us where you live. There are different options/solutions in different parts of the world.

Posde,
i live in Brazil, but will buy all in Germany or USA. In Brazil the prices are simply X rated.
TIA,
Paulo

Thanks for sharing. KNX needs to be bought within the country of operation, at least the actors for 230/110V.

The main use is 110V. 220V (using 2 x 110V phases) or 110V is not a problem. I can have both, but my plan is to have all in 220V and 110V only where i need. Most of my home appliances at home are running on 220V, as i brought it all from Germany, where i lived before.

Problem with the 220V is, that, iirc, you are running 60hz, whereas Germland is running 50hz.

60 Hz would be a problem for motors, imho, my washing machine i.e i do set for 900 rpm, when it is able to 1200 rpm. Would 50/60hz pose a problem for knx?

I have no idea, as I am not an engineer. I *do* know, that talking to a KNX manufacturer/OEM here in Germland, he said not to use the German stuff outside of Europe. You can probably easily buy some stuff from Germland, ship it over to Brazil, and do some testing. The sensors that are powered off the KNX bus should all work without a problem. Same with the KNX/IP gate, at least the one I am using uses PoE. The actors are the things that might cause problems.
