[..]As Movie watching is a large part of what users are installing for[..]

I disagree. One of the main stumbling blocks of LinuxMCE is the name. The media part of LinuxMCE is way weaker than the automation part. And looking at my families daily usage of LinuxMCE, the automation part is the one we rely on a lot, not the media part.

I'm not just an ass kisser, I also agree.

I like the DragonK's use of the screen for the menu, and I can shrink the horizontal size of the menu to fit it... but I would like to see something that incorporates more of what separates LMCE from the media centers out there.

So keep them coming!

I never quit... I just ping out.

LinuxHome would be better than LinuxMCE.  I wish I was half way decent at graphics design, I would put a penguin sitting on a house with a silly grin and a remote in its hand.

I started using this system to get out of "DVD hell". We always had DVD's all over the place that the kids would destroy. I chose LMCE over others solely because of the automation capability.  My family is now relying on the automation portion of the system more than the media portion.

Hi all,

Taking my design-ideas and what i learned, from making some of the graphics for RoamingOrb, applying them to the splash-screen, this is what i think should make a  beautiful splash-screen

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Looks excellent to me!  I'm sure others will agree.

Since the media part of LinuxMCE has never been up to par with the automation end of things, maybe it's time to just drop it and instead incorporate another app for the media end of things.  Yes, I'm talking about XBMC.

See my User page on the LinuxMCE Wiki for a description of my system configuration (click the little globe under my profile pic).

Raybe,

You got my vote. Great job.

I have had Dragons longer, so I have had more opportunity to butcher it than RayBe's... but here is some screwing around.

Clearly I need to move that tab warning. This config file is difficult to work with.

It was correctly pointed out to me that the buttons look clickable, and our friends in the Netherlands will get confused and probably just keep trying to click them...

Anyway, I am just screwing around... but thought you might like a reference with the menu up.

Yes, those look like clickable buttons in that second one. Strip off the "buttons" and place slightly larger icons in their places. Both of them look like they have a harsh drop shadow on the selected menu item. The first one is really clean and nice. The second one has more visual interest. I hope that helps some.

I tried to click the buttons, but nothing happens, shall I make a ticket?
